JA Summer Camps 2010
Enter the vibrant world of JA summer camps which are based on JA’s fun and engaging programs. Week-long day camp sessions let your child have lots of fun while learning the economics of life, from managing a paycheck to interviewing for a job to starting a business.
We have camps available the weeks of June 21-25 and July 12-16, 2011. Our camps for kids ages 9-12 are now FULL for the week of June 21-25, but we are still registering for our JA Prep for Success Camp for kids ages 12-15. Our camps the week of July 12-16 are still open.
JA BizTown® Camp
Ages 9-12 (entering grades 5-7)
Half-Day Camp, $95*

At this camp, the kids run the place. That’s because the place is Sam Swope JA BizTown, a 7,000 square-foot mini-metropolis. JA BizTown is home to Papa John’s, Stock Yards Bank, UPS, Mainline Radio, WDRB Fox-41 and other businesses you find in our own region. Now as a summer camp experience, JA is opening up the town for kids 9-12 years old to manage a city and run a business.
JA Young Entrepreneurs Camp
Ages 9-12 (entering grades 5-7)
Half-Day Camp, $95

Young entrepreneurs will learn what it takes to be the Bill Gates of their generation. They will find out what it means to be an entrepreneur, how to develop a business plan from idea creation to advertising their products, and how businesses sometimes have to make tradeoffs when resources are limited. They will learn that success is not magic, but is the result of being prepared. Sponsored by the Horseshoe Foundation of Floyd County.

* JA BizTown Camp and JA Young Entrepreneurs Camp can be combined for a full-day camp experience for only $185. Hours are 9:00am - 4:30pm. Campers need to bring a sack lunch and will eat between sessions.

JA Prep for Success Camp
Ages 12-15 (entering grades 7-10)
Full-Day Camp, $185

JA Prep for Success Camp helps kids prepare for their future as an adult. They learn about managing a monthly family budget based on their salary by participating in the budgeting simulation in Chase JA Finance Park. They will also learn about planning for college, the relationship between salary and education/ training, writing a resume, interviewing for a job, business etiquette, and more. Campers also work in teams to create a business plan, create a 3-D model of the business, give a marketing presentation, and to compete in an online business challenge.
